Peter is an award winning illustrator with around 50 solo books published worldwide. His subjects range from the natural world, science, history and transport all using traditional techniques. The natural environment is a cornerstone of his work, and Peter is committed to choosing more sustainable practices, including the use of natural and less impactful materials.

Starting out drawing birds for the RSPB, his work has developed leading to commissions by most of the well known publishing houses, including Reader’s Digest, Harper Collins, Random House, Bloomsbury, Dorling Kindersley, Quarto, Templar and Time Life. Peter has also illustrated 16 successful children’s books for Usborne. His books have been translated into a number of different languages.

Peter has also worked in television, advertising and regularly for magazines, supplying all the artwork for Nick Baker’s monthly 'Hidden World' page in BBC Wildlife magazine. 

His artwork has be en exhibited at the Illustration Cupboard in London, in Norwich and many venues in his native Yorkshire. He was included the ‘Art of the Picture Book’ exhibition, part of the Guildford Book Festival and he has a large watercolour in the permanent collection of ‘Nature in Art’ in Gloucestershire. His artwork has been selected for the Association of Illustrators annual and featured in Creative Review. 

Peter has taught painting and drawing in various media for over 25 years and currently teaches several popular classes and workshops, including regular sketching workshops for the RHS.
